Tjöruhúsið is a family owned and operated restaurant in Ísafjörður. We only serve catch of the day, hence we have no menu on display. Generally you can expect to feast on wolffish, cod, halibut, bacalao, ocean perch and spotted catfish at Tjöruhúsið – we also serve a langoustine and tomato based fish soup and (if you’re in luck) traditional Icelandic fish stew.
Children 14 and under eat for free at Tjöruhúsið. Persons over 14 will pay 6.000 ISK to partake in soup and buffet (which is served in the evening), during lunch hours, we usually offer an a la carte menu based on what was brought in that day, with prices ranging from 2.000 ISK – 4.000 ISK.
For those interested in dining at Tjöruhúsið, we recommend reserving seats in good time (especially during high season)
Note: to guarantee a table, we recommend being in touch with at least three days’ notice (more for larger groups) via telephone (as we are often busy in the summer and don’t have time to answer our email and FB msg)
