The story of Jens and his troubles with the two tooth trolls Karius and Bactus has entertained families for seventy years. The play is based on a Norwegian children’s novel written and illustrated by playwright Thorbjørn Egner and first published in 1949. The names Karius and Bactus are puns on Caries and Bacteria, the two main characters leading a luxurious life in Jens’ teeth, especially while Jens maintains his awful diet of white bread and syrup – and constantly fails to brush his teeth…!  The play is approx. 45 min. long and is in Icelandic.

A special & unique piano, and choir stand-up comedy evening in Reykjavík’s historic theatre IÐNÓ! The programme of the evening itself contains different funny, humorous sketches related to classical, pop and jazz music, Iceland, traveling, lifestyles and much more. The sketches are connected by interactive stand-up style speeches. Just think about our great ancestors: Victor Borge, Tom Lehrer and other. The programme can be divided into 3 parts: – Piano comedy: piano jokes, funny pieces – Opera singer inda house: pranks and jokes, greatly based on how we usually picture an opera singer. – Crazy choir: jokes and sketches with the choir Make your night unforgettable by combining the show with a special 3-course dinner in IÐNÓ before the show? Enjoy your dinner in an elegant and cozy atmosphere with a view over the city pond.

M’ANAM (“My Soul” in the English language) is one of the most exciting new vocal ensembles to emerge in recent years and grew naturally from the legendary ANÚNA. This is their first performance in Iceland. Inspired by the rugged and wild landscapes of Iceland and Ireland, M’ANAM explore the intertwined connections between these two ancient cultures. Their music is innovative and new, and their voices resonate through songs spanning 1500 years of history. M’ANAM (“My Soul” in the English language) came together for the first time in 2018. Formed from the interaction of members of the groups Olga Vocal Ensemble and the legendary Irish-based ANÚNA, they have a huge range of musical experiences, from Rock to Classical, Folk to Indie – but what excites them is the connections between the lands of Iceland and Ireland. Their songs and texts date back as far as the 9th century, through to music created by the singers themselves and Irish composer Michael McGlynn. M’ANAM are as comfortable singing an elegy for a dead Viking in Icelandic (“Deyr Fé”) as they are reinterpreting the classic English folk song “The Sheep Stealer”. The ensemble are redefining the accepted ideas of male-voice singing with their natural, […]
