One of the world’s biggest musicals in concert – Eldborg, Feb. 28th. EVITA, the musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. The story follows Evita’s early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death. The musical began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London’s West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. The all star cast includes Jóhanna Guðrún as Evita, Simon Bailey as Ché, Þór Breiðfjörð as Perón, Helgi Björns as Magaldi and Salka Sól as Perón’s mistress. Lee Proud directs and Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson is the musical director and conducts an 18 piece band and orchestra. This concert show also features the choir Söngsveitin Fílharmónía. The music performed at this concert is a wonderful mixture of jazz, blues and pop music.

Þeir Jakob og Jóhann taka fyrir almennt dægurþras í bland við persónulegri málefni á skotheldri kvöldstund í Tjarnarbíó. Jakob Birgisson kom sem stormsveipur fram á sjónarsviðið síðastliðið haust með frumraun sinni, sýningunni Meistari Jakob sem um tvö þúsund gestir sóttu. Síðan þá hefur Jakob haft gamanmál að atvinnu og skemmt fólki um land allt. Jakob skrifar um þessar mundir Áramótaskaupið 2019. Jóhann Alfreð hefur skemmt stórum hluta þjóðarinnar í yfir tíu ár með uppistandshópnum Mið-Íslandi en sýningar hópsins eru orðnar hátt í fimmta hundruð talsins. Sjón er sögu ríkari!

It is also a musical and cultural friendship bridge between Russia and Iceland. Alexandra Chernyshova is artistic director of this unique cultural music project since 2016. At the concert “Russian Souvenir: Alexander Pushkin” you will hear not only an incredible collection of Russian musical masterpieces such as aria of Varjazskiy gost from „Ruslan and Ludmila“ by M. Glinka, aria Iolanta by P. Tchaikovskiy or romances by Sergei Rachmaninov, which is recognized by time and generations but also will enjoy the world premiere “ Seven romances for soprano and harp “ based on verses by great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
